This chapter covers carpets and other textile floor coverings — any floor covering whose exposed surface in use is of textile material. Headings are split by how the covering is made: knotted (57.01), woven (57.02), tufted (57.03) and of felt (57.04). Whether or not an item is made up does not change classification, and goods having the character of textile floor coverings belong here even when used for other purposes.
