What this chapter covers
This chapter covers semi-finished and finished articles made of iron or steel: tubes and fittings, structural elements, railway track material, fasteners, wire products, containers and household goods. The chapter notes give two technical definitions: "cast iron" means cast products in which iron predominates by weight over each of the other elements and which do not meet the steel composition set out in Note 1 (d) to Chapter 72; "wire" means hot- or cold-formed product, of any cross-section, whose diameter does not exceed 16 mm. Which heading applies usually turns on how the product was made (seamless or welded), on the size thresholds written into the heading texts (such as 406.4 mm external diameter or 300 litre capacity), and on the intended use of the article.
Seamless and welded tubes, pipes and hollow profiles, plus tube or pipe fittings (73.04–73.07)
Structures and parts thereof: bridges, towers, roofs, door and window frames, scaffolding (73.08); sheet piling and welded sections (73.01)
Railway and tramway track material: rails, switch blades, sleepers, fish-plates and fastenings (73.02)
Fasteners and mechanical parts: screws, bolts, nuts, rivets, washers (73.18); chains (73.15); springs and leaves for springs (73.20)
Wire products: stranded wire, ropes and cables (73.12); wire cloth, grill, netting, fencing and expanded metal (73.14)
Tanks, drums, casks, cans and boxes of not more than 300 litres, without mechanical or thermal equipment (73.10)
Household goods: stoves and cookers (73.21), radiators and hot air distributors (73.22), table and kitchen articles and steel wool (73.23), sanitary ware (73.24)
Sewing and knitting needles, bodkins and crochet hooks for use in the hand, plus safety pins and other pins (73.19); other cast articles and iron or steel articles not specified elsewhere (73.25, 73.26)

Import duty rates across this chapter
The range is always computed WITHIN a single column: showing the EU column and the all-other-countries column as one range would misstate the duty. The binding rate depends on the twelve-digit code and the country of origin.

Customs duty — list column 7 — 0% – 15% · codes with a row: 336 · List II, V, VI
Additional customs duty — list column 7 — 0% – 25% · codes with a row: 228 · List EK-1
Chapter 73 — measure rows in force: 41 · products: 6 · origins: 11 · tariff codes: 20. Measures whose published expiry has passed but which are under an open expiry review ARE included: they remain legally in force and the duty is payable.
What governs the application of a measure is the product definition, not the HS code alone — your goods may fall outside the definition even if they share the code.
